Finding Myself Beyond The Noise

Who am I…and What in the World Have I Gotten Myself Into?

Several years ago, I clearly heard God telling me to write a book.  The only thing I knew about writing is that you are supposed to write about what you know.

So, I wrote a book on leadership and how God calls each of us to be a leader exactly where He has placed us.  To me, it was a matter of obedience.  Will I do what He asks regardless of how crazy it may seem at the time?

Fast forward a bit.  I wrote the book, found an agent, honed the book’s message, and published it.  What’s so difficult about that?  Well… I’m an engineer and know nothing whatsoever about writing or the publishing industry.  But I do know about leadership!

My leadership skills have been developed through almost 40 years as a bridge and tunnel engineer.  I currently engage in strategic planning and leadership development and have served on committees and community boards outside of work.  I’ve led ministry teams at church and was the church chair during a tumultuous and volatile season.

While that is a little about who I am, the larger question remains,

“what in the world have I gotten myself into”?

I thought I was simply writing a book!  As luck (and Jesus) would have it, that was only the beginning.

While trying to figure out a platform from which to market my books (yes, a website came to mind), God had my path cross with a website designer who also specializes in brand development. She challenged me to my core with 20 quintessential questions about who I am and what God is calling me to do (thank you, WordSparrow!).  I started down a pathway of branding a new ministry, and it has been a blessing beyond compare.

Beyond The Noise Ministries is the result of that good work and is the essence of who I am.  I love Jesus with all my heart, and I yearn to live my life, day in and day out, with Him.  To paraphrase Isaiah 26:3, by fixing my thoughts on Jesus and trusting Him, I will be kept in perfect peace.  Life isn’t always peaceful, but living life with Jesus is.

I want to share that with others.

And so, as I begin my new journey into this venture called “ministry”, I realize that it’s not actually new, it’s just a different way of sharing the power Jesus has brought to my daily life.  So far, it has been an amazing journey.

Go Beyond:

“Who are you, and where is Jesus leading you?”

It is too easy to travel through life without stopping to ask ourselves where we are going. Take the time to really think about what God is calling you to do at this season of your life.

How can you invite the power of Jesus into the presence of your day?
